Species Catalog

A field guide to the many forms of intelligence that emerge after humanity stops treating biology as a finished product.

A branching atlas of engineered, uplifted, fungal, crystalline, and emergent species.

Place in the Mythos

The species catalog begins with the engineered peoples of My Evolution System and keeps widening: elves, dwarves, kobolds, the Conn, Glimmerings, Tree Mothers, Arachnee, Quee, uplifted dolphins, and the Noble Kin all test a different answer to the question of what a person can become.

The elves carry ecological intuition and a culture that was prepared before birth, while the dwarves turn trust, fabrication, and resource stewardship into a civilization that can live in the asteroid belt.

The Conn makes memory ecological. Glimmerings make cognition crystalline and collective. Tree Mothers make a forest remember. Arachnee turn silk into conductive thought. The Noble Kin make protection a discipline of restraint.

The old atlas called these species a list. The living atlas treats them as arguments: every species is a different negotiation between inheritance, design, environment, and self-determination.
